On February 3, 2023 African American Studies students in Mrs. McLain's and Ms. Gavin's classes traveled to Jackson, MS to the Civil Rights Museum. During their visit, they were able to learn about the Civil Rights Movement in MIssissippi, complete a scavenger hunt, interact with Hezekiah Wakins ( the youngest Freedom Rider arrested during Freedom Summer) and listen to a personal recount of history by Mrs Flonzie Goodloe Brown Wright. They were on their best behavior and represented the District well.
